Class Schedule

ALL CLASSES are intended to be “IN-PERSON” CLASSES, with safety measures in place. The classroom is large with high ceilings, the class size is restricted to six students, so there is more space between each person, and we request everyone wear a mask. If the weather is nice we can open the big windows for more ventilation.

GREAT BLUE HERON

January 22, 2022, Watercolor Crash Course! Great Blue Heron at Columbus State. http://www.columbusstate.edu/ce 12:30-4:30 Saturday, all supplies furnished, $89. Experience the exciting medium of watercolor without the usual prerequisites; no drawing or painting skills are needed for this class. You will transfer the line drawing to your watercolor paper and get right to work mixing colors and learning the basic techniques of watercolor painting. You will be walked, step-by-step, through the entire process and in just four hours, you will have the satisfaction of finishing a small painting to take home. You will be amazed what you can accomplish!


Watercolor Painting I

Thursday, February 03 (6:00pm-9:00pm) and Saturday February 05 (9:00am-4:00pm).

This 9 hour class is completed in two sessions. Three hours on Tuesday and six hours
on Saturday, with a one hour lunch break.
$149. Materials Provided.
All basic watercolor skills are covered in this class. You will learn the four ways of applying paint to paper, how to mix colors using the color wheel as your guide, and how to use shading to make your subject look more three-dimensional. Watercolor Painting II

You will complete a small painting in every session. A variety of subjects. You will apply what you learned in Watercolor Painting I, and continue to build strong painting skills .

March 12 Watercolor Crash Course!   12:30-4:30 Columbus State
Subject: “SUNFLOWER”. You will use a line drawing provided by the instructor, and transfer the image to watercolor paper. She will walk you through the entire painting process, step by step. This four hour class is the perfect introduction for students who want to try watercolor. It is also a fun way to spend the afternoon, even if you aren’t new to the medium. March 26, 2022 Drawing Crash Course! 12:30-4:30 Auburn University, Biggin Hall
This four hour class is a great introduction to drawing if you’re a beginner and serves as a great review if you’ve drawn before. You will complete a series of exercises that focus on form, dimension, shading and basic perspective. You will also be introduced to the intuitive world of artists with exercises from Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain.

July 23 at Auburn University: Basic Drawing and Painting for Adults. This is a six hour class on Saturday, 10:00am to 4:30pm, with a half-hour break for lunch. This workshop begins in the morning with drawing and shifts in the afternoon to watercolor. Learn the instructor’s process for creating original paintings.
