This is a photograph of Spider Lilies on Flat Shoals Creek. I’m inspired by their story, a story of the interdependent web of all existence. Their survival depends on rushing water. They die in still water. When the dams at Columbus were torn out and the water began rushing over the rocks again, they came back.
I’m very happy to report Drawing Crash Course! at Auburn on Saturday is over-full. 
Auburn will offer my Watercolor Crash Course! on June 25th. The subject that day is the Plumleaf Azalea, Callaway Gardens’ signature flower. 
The Longleaf Forest was inspired by the forest on my father’s land where I loved to roam when I was a girl. I’ve recently learned about the great Longleaf forests that once covered the southeastern United States and the fascinating story of the Longleaf Ecosystem. I thought my ancestors were pyromaniacs, but it turns out they knew what they were doing when they “burned”.

The little white arrow between the E and the X in the FedEx logo is a good example. Artists always keep in mind that negative space has a shape, and that positive and negative shapes fit together like a puzzle. Art is all about relationships.

All too often, classes are cancelled because prospective students wait until the week of class to register. It is understandable that they want to wait and see if the class makes before committing their time and money, but many classes are cancelled while waiting for that last minute commitment. If you want to increase the chances of a class making, register early. To do otherwise, almost ensures the failure of the class to make, it puts the facility in the awkward position of making those dreaded last minute phone calls to the people who did register and to the instructor. The instructor takes a chance when scheduling a class, and they understand the gamble. Sometimes they’ve had to purchase supplies for the class and they, of course, receive no pay for a cancelled class. Sometimes, the instructor does not find out that a class is cancelled until the day before, sometimes after they’ve already packed up the supplies for the next day’s class. This has happened to me this year, and it has happened to many of my teacher friends. You can help turn this around by simply registering as soon as you see a class offered.
